All Saints Day Litany

Mothers/Fathers Day

Thank you, God,
for all the people who have given us motherly care.
Bless all who show motherly love:
mothers
and grandmothers and great-grandmothers,
godmothers
and stepmothers,
adoptive mothers and foster mothers.
Help those who find the task of mothering difficult.
Give them your patience and insight and strength.
Hold those whose children have special needs:
physical or intellectual or emotional disabilities,
trouble with learning or behaviour or relationships.
Fill those whose hearts are empty
because they have lost babies or children.
Tend those who long to bear children,
but cannot conceive.
Carry those who are bringing up families
without the full support of partners.
Feed those who are teaching their children about your love,
and about the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Bless them all,
and be close to them in all the ups and downs of daily life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who brings us new birth from above. Amen.
