Celebrating liturgy with young children is never a matter of “dumbing down.” Children respond to silence as well as words, and need opportunities to embody their prayer as well as to speak it. The liturgical texts on this page need to be used where great care is being taken to adapt every aspect of the liturgy to children’s needs. Physical activity, visual enrichment and attention to space, place and bodies are even more important than the words.
The “shepherd theme” material includes all the essential elements for a celebration of the Eucharist with young children. The “creation theme” material is a Great Thanksgiving prayer which could be used with APBA resources and other material created and authorised locally.
