Vade Mecum

Vade Mecum is the Ministry Handbook of the Diocese of Perth, formerly known as the Pastoral Handbook.

This Vade mecum is meant to be a companion “that which goes with us”, helping us to pass through things temporal, that we finally lose not the things eternal. May we travel wisely with this companion – not as a set of commands or a rule book, but as a guide that helps us to be better servants.

This handbook is both functional and spiritual. It seeks to offer a framework which guides and directs the ministry of word and sacrament, pastoral care, and Christian witness within the traditions of The Anglican Church of Australia.

Definition:

A book for ready reference: something regularly carried about by a person

Origin:

Latin, go with me: first known use: 1629
