Bunbury Bulletin December 2019

The Anglican Diocese of Bunbury celebrated the ordination of Mrs Justine Richmond as Deacon from the Busselton Parish and The Revd Paul Bartley as Priest from the Oyster Harbour Parish in St Boniface Cathedral Bunbury on 16 November 2019.

Also in early November, the annual Diocesan Clergy Conference was held over three days. Guest speaker, The Revd Jeni Goring, Senior Chaplain Amana Living briefed clergy on the implications of the proposed Voluntary Assisted Dying bill currently before the WA Parliament. The Diocese is thinking through the implications of the Bill for all its people and clergy. Everyone was very appreciative of Jeni’s reflections and it was good to be given an update on Amana Living’s invaluable work with our older family members. Parishes around the Diocese joined in with prayers on Amanda Living Sunday as we gave thanks for staff and all who use its services.

Boniface Care is the Diocese’s Ministry support organisation which works with parishes to assist and help those who are struggling with life’s circumstances. Boniface Care works closely with Anglicare WA in the delivery of Emergency Relief with much needed funds coming from Lotterywest WA to support this ministry across the South West and Great Southern regions.

Parishes are seeing increasing numbers of people seeking help and support through Emergency Relief delivered by volunteers and includes the Christmas Hampers Drive which is a significant focus for many parishes who work to support their communities with financial donations, food and toys. Christmas and New Year can be a very difficult and challenging time for many families and single people and remembering them with practical assistance is critical.

The Diocese also currently has full time Priest-in-Charge vacancies in the two Parishes of Dunsborough and Busselton and a part time position in Parish of Collie. If you are interested and would like more details, please contact The Ven Julie Baker through the Diocesan Office on 08 9721 2100.
