Following the postponement of Synod in 2020, the Third Session of the Fiftieth Synod will now be held from 8-10 October 2021 at HBF Stadium - Main Arena, Stephenson Avenue, Mt Claremont.
Friday 8 October at 6.30pm
Synod Eucharist at St George’s Cathedral
followed by the
First Sitting of the Third Session of the Fiftieth Synod
including the President’s Address
Second and Third Sittings of the Third Session of the Fiftieth Synod
Saturday 9 October – commencing at 8.10am
Sunday 10 October – commencing at 12.30pm
This means that the anticipated election year for lay members of Synod, which should have happened in 2021 will now be 2022. As a consequence renewal of enrolments on parish electoral rolls will also not take place until 2022 (refer section 36.5 of the Parish Governance Statute 2016).
Parish lay synod representatives will be as elected in 2018. However, should a lay Synod representative be unable to attend this year, parish councils may appoint a member to attend in lieu of the elected member (refer section 50.6 of the Parish Governance Statute 2016).
