Structural and Maintenance Assessments

Structural and maintenance assessments are undertaken to:

  • aid parishes to better manage physical WHS matters,
  • provide parishes with an overall assessment on the condition of parish property, and
  • assist in the preparation of parish budgets and maintenance plans.

A specialist Building Inspector (not builder) has been engaged to undertake the assessments.

Assessments will be undertaken every three years.

The assessments will be funded by Diocesan Office, however the cost of any works identified remain a parish responsibility.

The contractor undertaking the assessments will contact parishes to make a mutually convenient time for the visit.

These structural and maintenance assessments are in addition to the mandatory testing and inspections required for public buildings which are undertaken every 6-12 months and asbestos inspections.

Further information is available in Policy 6.5 at paragraph 4.10 and in this Circular Email to Parishes.
