The Right Reverend David Bassett

David brings a diverse set of ministry experiences and gifts, beginning his career as a primary school teacher before training for ministry.

David spent three years in Geraldton serving the Mission to Seafarers, the Cathedral and Bluff Point parishes, and Geraldton Senior High as chaplain. He then spent seven years as Chaplain to Wadhurst, the Year 7 and Year 8 campus of Melbourne Grammar, before becoming Vicar of St James’ Ivanhoe. His time in Ivanhoe was a time of generational transformation. During this time David began serving on school and synod boards and bodies.

David moved to Adelaide where he was Senior Minister of the Grace Anglican Network (2008-20) - a parish partnership in the eastern suburbs. David was collated Archdeacon in 2014 and was acting Registrar and Secretary of Synod in 2017. In 2020 David became the Assistant to the Primate and the Archdeacon assisting the Archbishop of Adelaide.

David is passionate about local and global ministry and has been a state and federal board member of Church Missionary Society (CMS).

David’s gifts include encouragement, team leading, governance, and vision setting, while remaining always a pastor at heart.
