The Right Reverend Hans Christiansen

Hans is an Assistant Bishop in the Anglican Diocese of Perth with episcopal responsibility for Schools and the Wirrin Region.

He is a Spiritual Director and oblate in the Camaldolese Benedictine Order. Prior to being consecrated a bishop in 2024, Hans served as the Senior Chaplain at Melbourne Grammar School where he taught Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Bishop Hans has a keen interest in sharing the Christian faith with a broad audience. He is passionate about education, theology, society and public speaking. He has a long-standing interest in contemplative spirituality, pilgrimage walking, First Nations People and culture, interfaith dialogue and social and environmental issues.

Bishop Hans is on the Board of All Saints’ College in Perth. He is the national Anglican delegate on the Multifaith Council of Australia. He is the Australian Anglican representative on the global Anglican Communion’s Interfaith Commission as well as the Australian Anglican representative on the global Anglican Communion’s Anglican Religious Orders Network.

Hans was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is married with two adult children, one of whom lives in Denmark and the other in Austria. Hans enjoys spending time with family, being in nature, travelling, music, literature and theatre, gardening, bike riding and walking.
