Parish of Willetton
The Nomination Board for Christ the King, Anglican Parish of Willetton, invites Expressions of Interest for the office of Rector.
The Parish of Willetton was officially founded in 1982 and has been meeting in its current church at the corner of Killara Park since 1993. We currently have a worshipping family of approximately 70 parishioners.
We are a group of believers of different age groups and ethnicities, who are passionate about sharing the love of Christ. We seek a new rector who would shepherd our parish, and partner with us in our vision to know Christ and to make Him known to others through our everyday lives.
This vision is supported by our core values of loving Jesus and the Bible; caring for one another and being a family friendly church. We aspire to be a spiritual outreach into Willetton and its surrounding community.
The parish identifies as a contemporary Anglican church. There is one service at 9 am on Sunday mornings, which is a Eucharistic service formed from the prayer book but presented using modern technology, making the service flexible to suit the theme and occasion of the day.
The service includes reading the bible together, a kids’ spot, songs, prayers, and Holy Communion. During the school term, our music team (piano, singers and conga drum) lead us in worship with a mix of contemporary and traditional worship songs.
The service finishes just after 10 am followed by morning tea in the park while children enjoy the playground. After morning tea during the school term, we gather again for our Learning Journey program in which we learn and talk about different aspects of discipleship and Christian living.
Our love for our neighbours is expressed through our outreach into the local community. We are well placed because of Killara Park which is adjacent to our church building. We are also located near several schools such as Rostrata Primary School, Riverton Primary School, Willetton Senior High School, and Rossmoyne Senior High school.
Throughout the church year, we host regular events, taking advantage of the park when the weather permits. At these events, our goal is to have opportunities to share the gospel with our non-Christian friends and family, in a welcoming environment.
