Missing the Mark: Stories from the Old Testament and the New Testament in Dialogue
It is said in Luke 15:10 that “there is joy in the presence of God over one sinner who repents.” As Lent is a time of reflection and repentance, this series will explore the various facets of sin through story to assist us in our self-examination and reflection on society as we move towards repentance, with God’s help.
Various faces of sin emerging from Old Testament stories will be matched, and set in dialogue, with that of the various figures in the Passion narrative, along with the portrayal of the associated divine responses. Stories of Jacob will be compared with Judas, David with Pilate, the rebellion of the people at Sinai with the religious leaders and the crowd, and the rebellion of the people at the edge of the land with Peter.
