Anglicare WA and the
Central Park Plunge
The Revd Chris Thomason, Chaplain

At Anglicare WA, we believe everyone deserves to belong, have a hopeful future and the support they need to flourish.
As Anglicare WA Chaplain, this year I am taking on the ultimate challenge to raise vital funds to support our services – I am participating in the Central Park Plunge. That’s right, I am abseiling a terrifying 130 meters, but I know that the fears that I will face at the top of the building are nothing in comparison to the fears that many of our clients face on a daily basis.
For almost 50 years, Anglicare WA has been supporting individuals, families and communities across our state in times of need. We are passionate about creating a just and fair Western Australia where everyone can thrive. As a leading agency of social change, we draw on our experience and expertise to empower people, strengthen communities and provide hope through our services.
Last year we had 37 participants take part, and together they raised over $73,000. This year we have grown to 50 participants, and all have their unique reasons – just like me – for taking part. Meet Paul:
I am trying to fundraise $1,100 to help Anglicare WA. They do so much good work across WA with homelessness, reconciliation and mental health. They provide services to people that might not otherwise have access to them.
I was recently diagnosed with ADHD so I really connect with the mental health work they do and believe everyone should have access to programs that provide vital support.
The money I raise through donations will help people around the state get the help they need.
Whilst our Plunge places might be full for this year, you can still support Paul or one of our other participants by making a donation to their page here.
Joining me on 25 October will be a number of my exceptional colleagues who believe so strongly in the work that Anglicare WA does that they too want to raise money for our services. If you are in the city between 8.00am and midday, please come and say hello. I might be in need of a reassuring smile and a cheer from below!
Lastly, if you would like to be a part of Central Park Plunge in 2025, please email the team at getinvolved@anglicarewa.org.au
