Anglicare WA Church Community Fund

Kelly Keall, Community Engagement Coordinator

Is there something you would do to support your local community if you had extra funds? Every year Anglicare WA offers small grants of up to $1,000 to Anglican parishes to support initiatives taking place that develop and strengthen local communities.

We want to support you to reach out in loving service and we want you to help us to make Western Australia a place where everyone can thrive. Over the last few years, we have had the privilege of supporting many amazing and heart-warming initiatives and we look forward to doing so again when the 2023 grants open.

One of our favourite projects was the ‘Sprouts’ gardening club from the Parish of Rockingham-Safety Bay. The grant provided by Anglicare WA enabled the purchase of plants and gardening equipment for the club which engages and mentors’ young boys at a local primary school.

The Parish of Armadale used their grant to expand one of their existing outreach projects. The parish runs a busy emergency relief drop-in centre which provides food to local families and individuals. Because of the grant, they are now also able to provide much needed hygiene items along with the food.

The Parish of Wongan Hills-Dalwallinu made their grant go far with their ‘Meals on a Shoestring’ initiative which started with education sessions around nutritional and economic meals. Community members then used this knowledge to come together to cook healthy delicious meals, which were then delivered to people going through challenging times. A community lunch was also organised, bringing together community members from all walks of life for an afternoon of food and friendship.

Other projects funded include breakfast clubs, a community garden, children’s play equipment and back to school supplies amongst many others. We are proud to have supported so many incredible initiatives to build community and we hope that some of these examples inspire you or your parish to become active agents of change too.

If you have an idea that can build community in your local area or would like to expand an existing project, consider applying for an Anglicare WA Church Community Fund grant.

Applications are open until Friday 17 March 2023.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 31 March 2023.

You will find more information and the application form at Anglicare WA Church Community Fund. Alternatively contact Kelly Keall on kelly.keall@anglicarewa.org.au or 9263 2066
