Peter Moyes Anglican Community School

Personal excellence with compassion for others . . .

These were the words of Mr Peter Moyes at the 2002 opening of Stage Three of the build of the School named in his honour - Peter Moyes Anglican Community School. He said that his wish for students attending the School named in his honour was that they would exhibit ‘personal excellence with compassion for others. As an Anglican School and in the spirit of these words, we are called to love and care for those around us, particularly those who are less fortunate than we are.

In the run-up to Christmas, we set up large nativity scenes at each of the four Reception desks around the School, as well as in the Auditorium. These scenes portray the wonderful message of the Good News of the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Each of these nativity scenes is also a collection point for our Christmas Hamper Appeal.

In response to this appeal, our School community comes together in an amazing way and provides an abundance of items for the hampers. The Chaplaincy team then have the privilege of delivering approximately 35 large Christmas hampers to families who need support at this pressured time of the year. The recipients are always immensely grateful for the generosity of the PMACS community. This is done in conjunction with our local parish; the Parish of Quinns-Butler. The parish now share our new Chapel, St Gregory’s, as their place of worship.

Continuing the Christmas spirit in the PMACS community, we have an annual Christmas Carols and picnic event. The evening is opened with prayer by our School Chaplain, The Revd Dave Deeny. Our Kindy to Year 2 students then lead this wonderful celebration in which the story of Christmas is told through narrative, costumes and the beautifully singing of our students. As with all the other nativity celebrations that will be held throughout the ASA community, the event is graced by plenty of ‘angels, shepherds and kings’, as we relish the joy and hope of the Christmas season.

The Principal, staff, students and families of Peter Moyes Anglican Community School wish you all a very happy and deeply meaningful Christmas.
