Breaking the Ground Ceremony
On a bright Tuesday morning, 2 April, a small group of dedicated staff and ASC Representatives congregated for a momentous Breaking of the Ground ceremony, heralding the official commencement of construction for our new Early Years Centre and Administration Building at the Halls Head Campus.
Led by Canon Revd James Tabor, the School Chaplain, the ceremony included Tracey Gray, School Principal, Judy Sparkes, Chair of Council, Trent Costelow, Business Manager, Lynne Thomson, ASC Chair of the Board, Franzl Shannon, the ASC Director of Capital Projects, and Joseph Pascuzzi, the ASC Chief Financial Officer.
The air of solemnity was intertwined with a sense of excitement, as the proceedings encompassed a reverent Bible reading:
1 Corinthians 3:10-17.
According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it. Each builder must choose with care how to build on it. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.
This passage, underscored the importance of building upon a foundation rooted in the grace of God. Each participant, armed with ceremonial shovels, symbolically broke ground, infusing Canon James Tabor’s service with heartfelt prayers. These prayers, offered for the students, staff, parents, carers, and the very grounds themselves, echoed a profound hope - ‘that a School may meet here from which, by the power of your Holy Spirit, your people are sent forth into this community and all the world as champions of justice and peace to all peoples.’
This project will be led by Shelford Constructions, the builders behind our Kwobadiny Sports Centre at the Meadow Springs Secondary Campus, commissioned in 2023. The projected timeline spanning eight months, with a planned conclusion in December ready for operation in 2025.
Principal Mrs Tracey Gray, highlighted the pivotal role of the new building. ‘This will enable Halls Head Campus to have additional facilities that support the needs of our families and staff, and is an exciting opportunity for everyone involved.’ The installation of a time-lapse camera will enable the community a glimpse into the evolution of the project.
This project will provide our students with enhanced facilities to support their learning and extracurricular activities. Featuring four new classrooms for our new double-stream Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students, as well as a state-of-the-art administration office, meeting rooms, staff rooms and specialists' offices, this will be a fantastic addition to our already thriving campus.
