New leadership for Wollaston

Two exceptional women have been announced as the new Warden and Deputy Warden of Wollaston Theological College.

The Revd Dr Raewynne Whiteley will take on the Warden’s role in August 2022 after four years in the Diocese of Southwark in England, first as the Discipleship and Vocations Minister and, since 2019, as Deputy Director of Discipleship and Lay Ministry.

As well as qualifications which include a PhD in Pastoral Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary in the United States and a joint degree in Theology and Ministry from the Australian College of Theology, Raewynne brings with her an impressive reputation.

She is described as a gifted educator and excellent preacher, as having a formidable intellect, possessing broad experience in parish ministry, and a real commitment to the discernment of lay and ordained people with a particular interest in the development of lay ministry.

The international search for new leadership also discovered The Revd Dr Christy Capper who has accepted the invitation to be Deputy Warden and a Lecturer in Systematic Theology at the College.

Christy joins Wollaston from the Uniting College for Leadership and Theology in Adelaide where she has been Director of Missiology since mid-2016. Since 2019, she has also been Vice-Principal.

Her academic achievements include a doctorate in Systematic Theology and a Master of Theological Studies from the University of Divinity, along with a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Macquarie University and Tabor Victoria respectively.

As well as her capacity as a skilled scholar and researcher, Christy is an engaging and committed educator and mentor, having been a leader in youth, young adults and campus ministry in a variety of forms since 2006.
