Across Perth-Midland Districts

Raising children can be one of life’s most rewarding experiences – but it’s not without its challenges. Whether navigating parenting pressures, housing stress, mental health concerns, family violence, or financial hardship, families don’t have to face it alone.

The Family Support Network (FSN) is here to walk alongside parents and carers, connecting families with the right support, at the right time. It brings together local networks of high quality, integrated services that provide coordinated support to families and young people at risk.

Parkerville Children and Youth Care (Parkerville), in proud partnership with Koya Aboriginal Corporation (Koya), will lead the FSN across Perth and Midland Districts from

1 July 2025. This early intervention initiative connects families with a wide range of community-based services, working collaboratively to build on their strengths and support their long-term wellbeing.

A key strength of FSN is its network of dedicated Community Partners. These organisations work together to ensure families experience an integrated, co-ordinated system of support. FSN reduces barriers to accessing services, reduces the need for families to repeat their stories, and ensures the right help is provided in a timely, respectful way. This seamless approach eases the often-overwhelming process of seeking assistance and helps families take confident steps forward.

FSN supports parents and carers of children from birth up to 18 years of age, as well as young adults aged 18 to 25 without children. For families referred by the Department of Communities who may be facing more complex or persistent challenges, FSN provides intensive case management and in-home support to help address issues early and promote safety and stability at home.

This service supports families across a broad region that includes selected suburbs within the Town of Bassendean, Town of Cambridge, Town of Claremont, City of Stirling,

City of Subiaco, City of Swan, City of Vincent, Shire of Mundaring, City of Nedlands, and City of Perth. While FSN has been operating in these areas for some time, Parkerville will assume the lead role from July 2025, continuing to deliver services in close collaboration with Koya and a strong network of community partners.

‘Families shouldn’t have to navigate the community services system alone,’ said Kim Brooklyn, CEO of Parkerville Children and Youth Care. ‘FSN is about giving families the tools, connections, and opportunities to create the lives they want - before crisis hits.’

Guided by the values of respect, cultural safety, and inclusion, FSN is committed to ensuring services are welcoming, relevant, and culturally responsive. Parkerville and Koya work closely with community leaders and groups to make sure families from all backgrounds feel heard, understood and supported.

This important work is made possible through the ongoing support from the Department of Communities, demonstrating what can be achieved when government and the community services sector come together to strengthen the wellbeing of Western Australian families.
