Parkerville Children and Youth Care
and Partners Awarded ‘Head to Health Kids Hub’
in Western Australia
Parkerville Children and Youth Care, in collaboration with Koya Aboriginal Corporation, Lifespan Psychology Centre, the Mental Illness Fellowship of Western Australia (MIFWA), and Pregnancy to Parenthood, is proud to announce the successful awarding of the Head to Health Kids Hub (Kids Hub) service for the City of Swan, Western Australia.
Supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care, along with the Western Australian Government’s Mental Health Commission (MHC), this initiative will provide free, essential early intervention and prevention services to vulnerable infants and children aged 0–12 years who are experiencing mild to moderate developmental, mental health, behavioural or emotional challenges.
Opening in early 2025 at the Stan and Jean Perron Child, Youth and Family Centre in Midland, the Kids Hub will employ a multidisciplinary approach to address mental health and wellness issues through a specialised program. A dedicated team of experts will work together to offer a range of treatments and support, ensuring that children receive the highest level of care. The service will be free for families living in the City of Swan, and no referrals will be required.
Kim Brooklyn, CEO of Parkerville Children and Youth Care, shared, ‘This contract highlights our consortium’s extensive experience and successful track record in supporting vulnerable children with mental health challenges. We are thrilled to bring this essential service to the Swan community.’
Minister Sanderson welcomed the initiative, stating ‘I am pleased to announce Parkerville Children and Youth Care Service as the provider for WA’s first Head to Health Kids service. It is vital to provide our children with accessible mental health support for WA’s future’.
Assistant Minister McBride added ‘The Albanese Labor Government has partnered with the WA Cook Government to fund these Kids Hubs so children and their families can get the help they need. It’s clear children need more support with mental health and wellbeing, and families need more free services to help their children.’
The consortium is grateful for the support from the Australia Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care and the Western Australian Government’s Mental Health Commission, whose commitment ensures that children facing mental health challenges receive the necessary assistance as early as possible.
‘The Head to Health Kids Hub marks a significant advancement in our ongoing efforts to create a safer, more supportive environment for at-risk children,’ Ms Brooklyn continued. ‘We are honoured to have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of Western Australian families and are eager to collaborate with our partners to deliver this critical service.’
The Head to Health Kids Hub will provide comprehensive services, including early intervention and prevention, to ensure that infants and children at risk receive the support they need to thrive. This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to improving the lives of children and families across Western Australia.
