Who doesn’t love a good party? Members of the Perth Mothers’ Union (MU) have recently enjoyed marking several significant events with celebrations and festivities.

In September, Melville MU gathered to celebrate their service to little ones and their carers through 15 years of Mainly Music. This was coupled with the launch of a ‘Purple Bench’ which had been installed in the garden to call attention to Family and Domestic Violence.

On 27 September, Malaga MU members led the congregation in celebrating Fathers’ Day. Young and old gathered to honour the fathers in their midst and to give thanks to God for the blessing fathers are to their families.

On 8 October, Mt Pleasant MU celebrated their birthday – 68 years of working together to promote marriage and encourage families to bring their children up in the Christian faith.

Also in October, Carine-Duncraig MU members joined with others for the annual parish fair. Lots of delicious goodies were baked and sold, proceeds going to support the work of Mothers’ Union in Australia and overseas.

At times, it is important for us to pause and reflect on weightier matters. For a number of years, MU Australia has done so by joining the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign in November and December.

This year a service of reflection and prayer will be held on 6 December at St Columba’s, Scarborough. The service will begin at 10.00am and all are welcome. MU Australia has also produced a leaflet with prayers for each of the 16 days of this campaign. You can visit our website to view or download this excellent resource.

Even if you are unable to join us on 6 December, we would be grateful if you could join us in prayer during this period.
