Australian Catholic Church Plenary Council
Australian Catholic Church Plenary Council
The Australian Catholic Church is holding its fifth Plenary Council and the first since 1937.
The role of women in the Church, healing the wound(s) of abuse, listening to Indigenous Australians and church governance are all expected to be discussed.
The Plenary Council will open with a Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral Perth on Sunday 3 October and will run until July 2022.
Let us pray together:
Lord, you are the vinedresser who cares for us with love.
You call on us to see the beauty of each branch united to the vine:
the beauty of each person united to you in Christ through the Holy Spirit.
And yet, too often the differences in others make us afraid.
We withdraw into ourselves.
Our trust in you is forsaken.
Come and direct our hearts toward you once again.
We pray for our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters
as they gather for the Plenary Council.
Grant us to live from your forgiveness so that we may be together and praise your name. Amen.
St John the Evangelist, Greenwood
