The Anglican Diocese of Perth is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable people.  We believe that people of all ages, cultures and abilities are entitled to worship in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where they are protected from harm and exploitation.

To achieve this and, in keeping with state legislation, Diocesan Screenings Policy and the Safe Ministry to Children Canon, we have created a new full-time position to ensure that all church workers are adequately screened and attend training with a focus on protecting those most at risk.
The Safe Ministry Coordinator is accountable to the Director of Professional Standards and will have a strong focus on child protection, policy, process and a demonstrated commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all people.
Our ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

  • Understanding of child protection issues in Western Australia
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, but able to apply astute boundaries within a workplace setting
  • Demonstrated maturity and ability to handle emotive situations
  • Ability to collate data with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to interpret legislation and policies
  • A high level of confidentiality, initiative, judgment and discretion
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends and out of hours
  • Empathy for the Anglican ethos.

The successful applicant will have a current clean WA driver’s licence, National Police Clearance and be able to obtain a WA Working with Children’s Check.
