Social Responsibilities
Commission
Anglican Social Responsibilities Commission
The Anglican Social Responsibilities Commission initiates and facilitates education which informs and supports social justice advocacy in the community, worshipping communities, schools and agencies.
We develop and implement advocacy strategies targeting church, government, business and non-government sectors.
Our focus is on criminal justice, Aboriginal issues, poverty and refugees. In all our work we:
- provide a Christian perspective and a theological basis for our approaches and actions
- seek guidance and empowerment through prayer
- where possible, work collaboratively and ecumenically with other church organisations and also with people of other faiths or none.
Social Responsibilities
A Mission Possible
We are all driven by our Christian faith and mission, summarised so well in Micah 6:8 ‘This is what Yahweh asks of you, only this: that you act justly, that you love tenderly, that you walk humbly with your God’.
The Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD)
CARAD directly assists refugees, asylum seekers and detainees in several ways.
Voluntary Assisted Dying Symposium
Over 120 people attended the Symposium, organised by the Social Responsibilities Commission, to discuss the issues around the bill to legalise Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD).
Black Lives Matter!
Something is very, very wrong with racial equality in both American and Australia, and needs to be changed.
