Professional background and qualifications

I am a Marist priest, professional supervisor, spiritual director and counsellor, with extensive experience in pastoral ministry, spiritual accompaniment, professional formation and personal development.

My qualifications and professional formation include:

• PhD, Murdoch University, examining the developmental influences that shape the practice of contemporary spiritual directors.
• Master of Pastoral Studies, majoring in Spirituality, Loyola University, Chicago.
• Formation in spiritual direction, Institute of Spiritual Leadership, Chicago.
• Professional supervision training, Wasley Institute, Perth.
• Associate Diploma in Welfare Work.

I am a member of the Australasian Association of Supervision (AAoS).

Approach to professional supervision

I offer professional supervision to clergy and others engaged in pastoral ministry, spiritual care and the helping professions.

My approach is grounded in attentive listening, reflective practice and respect for each person's experience. I seek to provide a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental environment in which supervisees can reflect openly on their ministry, explore its challenges and opportunities, and develop greater awareness of the personal, relational, spiritual and organisational dimensions of their work.

Professional supervision provides an opportunity to examine the relationship between one's personal experience, vocational commitments and professional responsibilities. It can also assist in recognising patterns of practice, attending to ethical questions, navigating difficult relationships and sustaining personal and professional wellbeing.

I regard supervision as a collaborative process that encourages self-awareness, professional accountability, discernment and continuing development.

Interests and areas of expertise

My professional interests include the relationship between spirituality, psychological development, personal experience and professional practice.

I work with individuals, groups and organisations through professional supervision, counselling, spiritual direction, retreats, organisational reviews and vocational assessment.

I also facilitate professional development seminars and personal growth workshops, drawing on approaches that include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Enneagram, organisational spirituality and Open Space Technology.
