Interests and expertise

Ian recognises the great benefit of professional supervision and encourages all pastoral workers to find support, encouragement, reflection and development
with regular meetings with a qualified supervisor.

Ian worked for 9 years as an engineer in industrial automation before commencing training in theology. He subsequently pastored two different churches in the Illawarra / Shoalhaven over 15 years, then moved into hospital chaplaincy. Ian has recently retired after 11 years as Chaplain to the Public Hospitals of the Illawarra / Shoalhaven.

In this role he has trained, encouraged, debriefed, and pastored a large group of volunteer chaplains, as well as pastorally visiting patients and staff in the hospitals. He has also been active as a Disaster Recovery Chaplain.

Ian holds a Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision (Pastoral) through St Mark’s National Theological Centre (2015). He supervises a variety of pastoral workers including Church Pastoral Workers, Chaplains, and Aged Care Pastoral Workers; both paid workers and volunteers.

Ian is available for face to face supervision in the Illawarra and remotely by Zoom.
