Qualifications and accreditation

Steve Runciman obtained a Master of Psychology (Clinical) in 1980 from the University of Western Australia. He has been working as a Clinical Psychologist for almost 40 years, 32 of those in private practice. He is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and the Institute of Clinical Psychologists. In 1993, Steve obtained a Master of Arts in Culture and Creation Spirituality from Holy Names College in Oakland, California and in 2010 completed the course requirements in Christian Spirituality, Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction offered by Tree of Life at Wollaston College.

Steve currently provides regular supervision to clergy, chaplains, pastoral care workers and psychologists. He has undertaken professional training in the provision of supervision and receives individual and group supervision himself. Steve’s approach is to listen and respond in a supportive way that brings greater clarity and understanding of what might be happening within the person and their context, helps to identify best hopes and signs of growth, and amplify and reinforce progress.

Interests and expertise

Steve has conducted workshops and training for clergy in self-care, management of professional issues, becoming a more effective supervisor and personality and spirituality. He regards supervision for clergy as one of the privileges and most enjoyable activities in his work. Steve also receives spiritual direction and regards this as an indispensable resource for his own journey.

Fees

My usual fee for a 50-55 minute supervision consultation is $220 (includes GST).
